AN APPEAL has been launched to find a good neighbour willing to open and close a car park barrier in Worle to save mums from a parking nightmare. The barrier across the car park at Castle Batch Recreation Ground and Community Centre has been closed indefinitely to stop boy racers using it.But mums who use the car park when they attend toddler groups at the centre or visit the play area are being forced to park in the street.Councillor Astra Brand, who represents Castle Batch on Weston Town Council, is appealing for a neighbour or council officer to take on the responsibility of opening and closing the barrier so people can once again use the car park during the day.Cllr Brand said: "A lot of families use the play area and I feel sure they must also find this an imposition. "This has been done because young joyriders have been using the car park at night to create havoc and make the lives of the local residents a living hell."Having spoken to a resident in Bishop Close, I found that residents had their first noise and trouble free weekend for the last 18 months and as far as they are concerned they will put up with people blocking their drives and houses so long as the barrier stays shut."But if we could get someone to come along at 8am to open the barrier and at 5pm to close it again, it should solve both problems."If anyone can help call Cllr Brand on 01934 521781.
