Pro-European activists have been campaigning in Weston-super-Mare for people to have the final say on Brexit.

Supporters from Open Britain, the European Movement and Britain for Europe were in High Street on Sunday, calling for people to be given a vote on any Brexit deal.

Organiser Andrew Wright said: “It was great to be out campaigning in my home town of Weston alongside other pro-European activists and talking to local people about making sure they get a say on the final Brexit deal.

“With Brexit turning out to be much more complicated and costly than people were told during the referendum, we are demanding a people’s vote on the final Brexit deal.

“We were able to show strong support for this as our mood boxes showed clear support for the people having the final say on Brexit.”

The event was part of a national movement, with 500,000 leaflets handed out at more than 100 street stalls across the country.
