A range of community groups gathered on Tuesday in Weston-super-Mare’s Bournville estate to encourage people to take up new hobbies in 2018.
Opportunities On Our Doorstep was organised by Alliance Homes and more than 15 charity and volunteer groups set up stalls at the For All Healthy Living Centre, in Lonsdale Avenue.
The event’s organiser, Kate Eastment, said: “We felt it was important to kick start the new year properly and allow people to discover new interests.
“It is extremely pleasing to see such a wide range of groups encouraging people to get involved.”
Organisations including arts and crafts workshop Create Together, business campaign Bossit and a group of flamenco dancers were looking for new volunteers.
Adrian Stone, from Alliance Homes, said: “It is important for residents to know there are so many opportunities available to them; it is never too late to start a New Year’s resolution.”
