A NEW memorial hall could be built in Churchill.Churchill Parish Council is deciding whether to keep the existing memorial hall in Ladymead Lane or rebuild the site when parish councillor Valerie Langley - who has been running it for 30 years - leaves in April.Memorial hall improvements are one of several suggestions put forward by residents to be included in Churchill's parish plan, which sets out the future of the village for the next 10 years. A questionnaire was sent out to residents to find out how they would like to see improvements in the village, including the area's sports, employment and shopping facilities. They were posted through residents' letterboxes in November.Churchill Parish Council's clerk, Lindsay Ireland, said: "Valerie has done an excellent job in the memorial hall. "When she leaves in April, decisions will be made on a number of things to help Churchill, including whether we keep the existing hall or build a new one. "I think many councillors and residents would be in favour of a new village hall with more facilities.
