NORTH Somerset Times editor Heather Pickstock and reporter Lisa Harding are putting down their pens this summer - and going to the seaside. The pair often report on charity events, but his time they are pulling on their hiking boots and taking part in the South West Coastal Challenge to raise money for Children's Hospice South West.On June 17, they will be walking the section between Sennen Cove and Porthcurno and are now appealing to all their friends, contacts and colleagues to sponsor them on their fund-raising trek.Heather said: "We chose to walk the Porthcurno section because I went there a couple of years ago and thought it was one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited. "I love Cornwall as a place and have been yearning to go back, so this walk gives me that opportunity, plus the chance to raise money for charity."Heather said she would be preparing for the six and a half mile trek, which is expected to take around three and a half hours to complete, by taking her basset hound, Bertie, for long walks.Lisa, a keen runner who has already taken part in two half marathons and many other shorter runs, is probably the more prepared of the two for the challenge. She said: "Cornwall is one of my favourite places too, and although I run to keep fit, I really enjoy walking as well. "It will be such a treat to spend some time in such a beautiful part of the country, let alone rake in cash for such a worthy cause."To sponsor them, e-mail nstimes@archant.co.uk or call the North Somerset Times newsdesk on 01934 422656.
