North Somerset Council will be carrying out roadworks along the A370 in Weston-super-Mare for five nights, starting tonight (Monday).

Works will start on the A370 Herluin Way – between Airport Roundabout and the roundabout by Asda – tonight.

Crews will be working from 8pm to 6am, and lane closures will be in place.

The works will include the repainting of road markings, replacement of damaged railings and barriers, replacing gully and manhole covers, and clearing gullies.

The council’s deputy leader and executive member for highways, councillor Elfan Ap Rees, said: “We’ll be carrying out overnight works in order to minimise disruption on this busy stretch of road.

“There will be lane closures in place so that our crews can work safely and we ask that all road users take care when driving past these works, so as to ensure safety for all parties.”

Skanska is the contractor carrying out the works for the council, at a cost of approximately £46,000.

* There will also be closures to the slip road at Junction 22 of the M5 tonight.
