AN OVERTURNED caravan on the M5 has caused traffic chaos on the roads in the North Somerset region this lunchtime (Sat).

Queues on the southbound side of the motorway are stretching back from Gloucester to Exeter following the incident near the Cribbs Causeway junction at Bristol.

The accident, plus bank holiday traffic, has resulted in gridlock on the M5 between Cleveon and Weston.

The Highways Agency has said motorists should expect delays to their journey of up to three hours.

The bad news for motorists does not stop on the motorways, either.

A car has gone into a ditch on the B3133 near Yatton, adding traffic to the roads being used by motorists avoiding the motorway.
