Almost 1,000 people stopped off at Avon Owls in Whitley Head to see the work which has been carried out there since it opened at the new site last year.

The charity used to operate out of owner Darren Jenkins’ back garden in Winscombe before the operation moved to a bigger space.

During the family fun day guests got the chance to get up close with an array of owls, including a four-week-old owlet.

Although Monday’s event was free, donations were collected as part of the sanctuary’s appeal to buy a special incubator for sick birds.
