MORE than 100 villagers turned up in force at a public meeting to raise their concerns over plans for a controversial development.North Somerset Council has applied for planning permission to build 11 homes on Grange Farm off Oldmixon Road, Weston. But many people living in Hutton fear the new development could spell bad news for the area.Emotions ran high at the meeting, held in Hutton Village Hall, when parishioners raised concerns over issues including protection of the environment, lack of road safety due to increased traffic and impingements on residents' privacy.A number of villagers stepped forward to say that greater horseshoe bats had been seen around the area which North Somerset Council wants to develop.Parish councillor Sharon Chitty, who lives in The Willows in Hutton, said at the meeting: "We have problems getting in and out of our road normally. I can't ever really walk my children to school and I take my life in my hands every day. So I have reservations about this new access route."North Somerset councillor Elfan Ap Rees has called in the application along with Cllr Ian Peddlesden. It will now go on to be considered by a committee at a later date which hasn't yet been decided.
