EXCITED performers have just seven months to wait until the once-a-decade Axbridge Pageant rolls into town.

EXCITED performers have just seven months to wait until the once-a-decade Axbridge Pageant rolls into town.

Preparations for the event, which is being held over the August bank holiday weekend, are well under way.

The tradition was started after the town bypass opened in 1967 - which meant Axbridge Square had less traffic.

To mark the change a pageant was put on and has been repeated every 10 years since.

As part of fund-raising efforts for the pageant a Valentine's disco will be held on February 13 in the town hall. The event starts at 8pm and the theme is 'black and white'.

Tickets are available from Axbridge Chemist, The Lamb Inn and Axbridge Butchers.
