A man and woman had to be rescued this morning (Wednesday) after they got stuck in thigh-deep mud on Brean beach.
Burnham-on-Sea’s BARB Search and Rescue hovercraft was called to the scene at 9.55am and coastguards freed the pair after they found themselves stuck.
The two could not be seen due to the thick fog and had to dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
BARB hovercraft pilot, Pete Francois, said: “Visibility was down to just 50 metres so it was difficult hovercraft flying conditions, but a close team worked with the coastguard, which meant we were able to locate the two people and bring them safely back to the shore.”
The two people were checked over by ambulance crews but were given the all-clear.
