A North Somerset parish council has awarded good causes in the village with cash grants totalling more than £20,000.

Congresbury Parish Council held its annual parish meeting on Monday night, and awarded five village causes a share of £24,782.

The lion’s share of the cash was given to Congresbury Youth Partnership, which organises activities for children aged eight to 14 in the village.

The youth partnership will receive £19,000. Congresbury Millennium Green Trust was awarded £4,100 for maintenance of green space, while £1,000 was allocated to Vine Counselling for the provision of counselling to adult villagers.

Little Rascals toddler group will receive £250 and Congresbury Community Preschool was awarded £432, with the condition it relocates some activities to the primary school site.
