A parish council has had to amend its neighbourhood plan following changes to possible housing developments in the area.

Cheddar Parish Council agreed to remove the Helliers Lane housing development – which has asked for planning permission to build 67 houses – from its ‘preferred sites’ section of the plan.

The change came after Natural England raised concerns about the land, surrounding environment and the development.

The neighbourhood plan needed to state how many houses it hoped to build between 2011 and 2027 and where it would prefer houses to be built.

The council aims to build between 200 to 300 homes, with around 100 already built.

Helliers Lane has been a popular site for the council due to its location and access.
