Travellers have described Bristol Airport as bring in ‘absolute shambles’ after luggage took more than an hour to be delivered to returning holidaymakers.

People were tweeting the airport this morning (Sunday) after waiting for hours for their baggage to be delivered.

Passenger Ryan Price branded it a ‘joke’, saying: “Absolute shambles waiting for luggage at Bristol Airport.”

Another holidaymaker, Glen Hunt, took to Twitter to express his anger.

He said: “Awful baggage claim experience this morning, finally got our bags one and a half hours after landing.”

Cath Weymouth said it was ‘unforgivable treatment’ with many families with young children ‘still waiting’ when she arrived at the airport this morning from Turkey.

She added: “@BristolAirport absolute disgrace. Landed at 2.55am it is now 5am and we are still waiting for luggage.”

Bristol Airport apologised to the disgruntled passengers ensuring it would pass their concerns to Swissport, the ground handling agent for their flights.

It added: “Industrial action by French air traffic controllers this weekend has caused disruption to flight schedules across Europe, including at Bristol Airport.

“As a result of delayed flights arriving off schedule, airline ground handling resources have been stretched at times meaning some passengers have experienced long waiting times for their bags.

“We continue to work with our partners to limit the inconvenience caused to customers.

“In the meantime, we thank all passengers for their patience.”
