AN author has put together a fascinating record of Weston's history.Sharon Poole has just had her 13th book, Weston-super-Mare Past and Present, published. The book is packed full of photos showing what Weston was like as long as 100 years ago, how it has changed and what it looks like today. Many of the older pictures in the book have never been published before. Readers can see landmarks like the Grand Pier in 1904, Knightstone Island in 1908 and the High Street in 1905 in their full historical glory and compare them with images taken last autumn.Sharon, of The Shrubbery, Weston, had her first book published in 1987. She worked as the social history officer at North Somerset Museum for 30 years and developed an interest in old photos. She said: "Most of my books are photographic collections. I love searching out images - the hunt is a challenge."I have spent so much time looking at photos I can now walk the streets and see how it was in the past."Sharon will be signing copies of her latest book at Ottakar's in the Sovereign Shopping Centre, Weston, on June 3 from 12-2pm.
