A 73-year-old man has raised money for a charity by busking in the street.

Daniel Hardinge has been busking in Weston High Street for a month to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

The pensioner has raised £400 for the charity so far and continues to perform daily to raise more money.

Mr Hardinge – who is a resident at the Chase Lodge Residential Home in Grove Park Road – visited the store, in High Street, to ask if he could donate his earnings to the charity and staff were overwhelmed by his generosity.

Assistant manager Bridget Galway said: “We are very grateful to Mr Hardinge.

“It is a really nice thing he does and we admire him for doing it, especially as he is out in all weather conditions.”

The charity shop staff wanted to recognise Mr Hardinge for his work and raise awareness.

The British Heart Foundation works to improve treatment, diagnosis and prevention of heart problems.
