Mick Crennell has been appointed as the permanent Chief Fire Officer (CFO) for Avon Fire and Rescue Service (AF&RS).
CFO Crennell has been in interim charge since August last year but was appointed to the role permanently after a ‘competitive’ process.
Chair of the Avon Fire Authority, Cllr Don Davies said: “We are delighted to be able to confirm the transition of Mick from his interim post to become our permanent CFO.
“I am grateful for all he has done for us over the past nine months and the stability he brought during a challenging time.”
CFO Crennell was bought onboard after his predecessor Kevin Pearson was suspended after a damning report last year. He died in November.
CFO Crennell said: “I am extremely proud to have been appointed CFO as I’ve very much enjoyed my time since joining AF&RS in August.
“I am delighted Avon Fire Authority has placed its trust in me to continue the journey we’ve started.”
