Woman dies after being hit by train between Worle and Weston

A 25-year-old woman has died after being hit by a train between Worle and Weston station this afternoon (Friday).

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “We were called to Worle station at 3.52pm of today following reports of a person being struck by a train.

“Officers attended alongside paramedics, however, a 25-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“Her family has been informed.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

All lines between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston are blocked and travel disruption is expected until 8pm.

A Great Western Railway spokesman said: “Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston, all line between the two stations are closed.

“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 80 minutes.”

“Tickets are accepted on buses and replacement buses have been requested.”

**UPDATE: 5.41pm**

All lines between Weston-super-Mare and Bristol Temple Meads have now reopened, but there are still delays of up to an hour.
