Person rescued after 20ft fall from ladder onto rocks

A person who fell around 20ft onto rocks in Weston-super-Mare this morning (Friday) was rescued by coastguard teams.

Weston-super-Mare’s coastguard was called to the area around Birnbeck Pier and Anchor Head at 4.50am this morning after reports someone had fallen.

It was discovered the man had fallen around 20ft from an access ladder onto the rocks below.

The coastguard, joined by the team from Clevedon, and paramedics stabilised the casualty.

A spokesman said: “We then transported the casualty to an awaiting ambulance with the assistance of local fire crews.

“Great team work between all agencies involved meant that we were able to get the casualty to safety.”
