NAKED beachgoers who have been dubbed 'perverts' by residents are raising concerns in the Burnham area. Residents in Burnham, Berrow and Brean have discussed the nudists on an internet chat forum. One web user said: "Every weekend from now until probably mid summer, usually young good looking chaps, turn up individually and park their cars outside our houses. They wait for their mates to turn up then go up the dunes together. We were asked by the police to take car numbers but no-one took any notice."Another forum user said the visitors were 'mainly perverts and homosexuals who hang around down there'. Burnham sector police, who cover the coastline up to Brean, have started Operation Gold Coast, which is carried out every year to deal with incidents on the beach. The operation covers any incident from youth's acting antisocially to public indecency. In recent months, police officers have been aware of flashers who target women and young children. Burnham sergeant Ian Kennett said: "There have been reports of men flashing, usually when lone women are out walking. Obviously this isn't very nice for the women involved. We urge anyone who sees this sort of behaviour to report it immediately."Messages have also been left on dog-walking internet sites, warning visitors to avoid certain parts of the beach.
