Petition calls for police chief to quit

FORMER police officers have created a petition to call for the resignation of Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s chief constable after he was found guilty of eight charges of misconduct.
Chief Constable Nick Gargan was suspended from his £150,000-a-year job after being accused of making inappropriate advances to female staff.
Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens will hold a sanction hearing with him after the misconduct panel has written a report on its findings.
A phased return to work is being prepared for after the hearing.
But the National Association of Retired Police Officers is calling for a vote of no confidence in him. The details of the misconduct hearing have not yet been made public.
