families staged their own picnic protest against the food and drink ban at Weston's waterpark on Saturday.

They were staging the protest against the ban which states that nothing except water and baby food can be taken into the seafront Water Adventure Play Park, where a £1 entry charge was recently introduced. The popular attraction is run by Weston Town Council.

One of the parents in the group, Dave Townsend, said: “We got the feeling that staff at the park had been asked not to confront us. After we started eating three or four other families not connected with us also started eating their own food. They were not confronted either.”
