A gorgeous bank holiday weekend was rounded off in style as the sun shone on Claverham for its May Day fair.

Every year villagers congregate on the green near the hall for an afternoon of games and performances.

This year’s fair was no different with some traditional maypole dancing adding plenty of colour to the occasion.

Every year there is a May fair queen and on Monday 10-year-old Darcie Bembridge had the honour. She was well supported by two attendants – Hope Edbrooke and Gracie Downton, both aged 10.

Away from the dancing, there were a number of stalls set up offering up games, including a raffle which had lots of bottles of wine up for grabs.

The future of the event had been thrown into doubt earlier this year when Newland Homes revealed plans to build on the village green, but it has now scaled back its scheme.
