A North Somerset leisure centre opened its courts, pitches, pools and gymnasiums this weekend to give villagers an opportunity to use its facilities for free.

Churchill Sports Centre welcomed residents to try its full range of equipment on Saturday, and put on a range of classes to show people different ways of exercising which are available at the complex.

Some guests packed their swimsuits and took to the pool for a children’s swimming session packed with fun games and activities using floats.

Youngsters also showed off their best moves in the dance studio in a well-attended street dance class.

Children enjoyed the bouncy castle in the sports hall, while others played badminton and table tennis.

Some guests had a go at weight training in the gym and helpful staff at the leisure centre were on hand to offer technical tips and work-out advice at the open day.
