IT WAS all hands on deck in a Somerset town on Thursday with pirate-themed fun proving a hit with preschoolers.

Burnham’s Marine Cove was full of swashbuckling tykes as children enjoyed free games, activities and songs in pirate costume.

There were also a pirate-themed storytime, a treasure hunt and a host of balloon swords.

The day, organised by Sedgemoor District Council, was held in preparation for a full-fledged Pirate Day set for the town on July 27 from 10am.
