Plans for 1,650 new homes and primary school

AN OUTLINE planning application for a 1,650-home development on the former Weston Airfield site has been handed in to North Somerset Council.
Persimmon Homes wants to build the homes and up to 3.8 hectares of light industrial, general industrial and warehouse business space at the site.
If approved the development would also contain a new primary school, as reported in the Mercury last week, public open space, a lake and access roads.
A new link road would also be created to serve the new development and link it up with the rest of Weston.
North Somerset Council will determine whether it agrees with the proposal in principle before the developer is able to hand in a full planning application.
A decision is expected in the next two months.
