A couple from Bleadon look ahead to celebrating their 70th anniversary

A COUPLE from Bleadon are getting ready to celebrate another landmark in their relationship.

Doug, aged 90 and Vera Mico aged 89 are celebrating their platinum wedding anniversary with family this weekend in Catherine’s Inn in Bleadon following their anniversary on Tuesday.

The couple moved from Broadway near Ilminster with their two children to live in Lympsham in 1965 when Doug was transferred to RAF Station Locking to supervise the rebuild of part of a camp.

Doug left the Air Ministry after a few years and went to work for the Somerset County Council as a building surveyor.

He then went on to supervise the work in the Sedgemoor area until he retired in 1985.

The couple still live in Lympsham with their children both living in the Weston area.
