A BUDDING young actress has been chosen to help record the theme tune for a classic children's TV show.Olivia Andrews, a pupil at Ashcombe Primary School in Weston, will play percussion on the new Blue Peter theme.The nine-year-old was one of 26,000 children nationwide who entered a competition when it was advertised on the programme. The contestants were shortlisted to 1,000, then 500 and finally the young actress was invited to one of six auditions across the country and made it into the final 40.Olivia has previously appeared in musical shows including Treasure Island and Cinderella at The Playhouse in Weston and Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the Bristol Hippodrome.Olivia's mum, Becky Burditt, said: "I couldn't believe it when I heard she had been shortlisted out of 26,000 children. Olivia really wants to be on television and on the stage. She loves music and performing."Olivia and the other 39 musicians will travel to Stonyhurst in Lancaster with the Blue Peter presenters to rehearse. On the final day they will go to Manchester to record the theme tune with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.A special show revealing how the new theme tune was recorded will be aired on BBC 1 on April 25 and 26.
