Two teenagers were assaulted and robbed in Weston Village on Monday night, prompting a police investigation.
The incident happened at about 9.45pm when the 17-year-old youths had their mobile phones stolen and were ‘hurled abuse at’ and ‘hit twice in the face’ while they were walking home from football training along Moor Lane.
The mum of one of the victims told the Mercury she wants to warn others of the danger.
She said: “They were hit twice in the face and on the back of the head and were threatened viciously after they ignored abuse he hurled at them and tried to keep on walking.”
“I want to warn others and ask if anyone else saw the incident or knows anything about it to come forward and make sure this person is caught.
“The man, who was about 18-19, about 6ft 4, wearing an Adidas tracksuit and riding a yellow pushbike only got away with a couple of quid in cash, as well as their phones, as that’s all they had on them.
“It was a nasty and unprovoked incident that has left my son with a black eye and scared to leave the house.”
Avon and Somerset police confirmed an investigation has been launched in to the incident.
Anyone with any information should contact police on 101, quoting the reference number 5217114583.
