Police appeal after handbag stolen with charity money inside

CASH which had been raised for an air ambulance charity was stolen when a woman had her handbag snatched by a man on a mountain bike.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has launched an appeal after a woman was walking to the bus stop in Sandford Road, Winscombe, and had her handbag snatched by a white man in his late 20s or early 30s.

The incident took place in the North Somerset village at around 8.15am on Thursday.

The suspect is between 5ft 6ins and 6ft tall and of medium build. He has short dark hair, dark eyes and a cropped beard.

At the time of the theft he was wearing a dark coloured top and trousers and the bike he was riding was a black mountain bike.

A police spokesman said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Sandford Road area in Winscombe around the time of the incident, who may have seen the man on the bike.”
