POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted in broad daylight.

The incident took place in Cheddar on Friday between approximately 1.30pm and 1.50pm.

The victim was walking along Bath Street near the Dean and Sons and Tesco stores.

She was approached by an unknown white male and was assaulted.

The man is described as being in his 50s, about 6ft 2ins tall and of medium build.

He was clean shaven, wearing prescription glasses and described as clean, tidy and smart looking.

He was wearing a round necked T-shirt with horizontal stripes believed to be a rust colour, green with a hint of white. The sleeves came down to just above his elbows.

He was also wearing a thin ring on his wedding finger that was a gun metal colour and was seen driving an older style, grey or silver Volkswagen Golf.
