A WOMAN was sexually assaulted in broad daylight yesterday (Sun) morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident that took place in Weston at about 6am.

The victim was walking along the cycle track between Searle Crescent and Hutton Moor Road when she was sexually assaulted.

The offender is described as a white man, in his early 20s and of large build. After the assault he made off towards Asda.

Police want to identify potential witnesses and in particular anyone who may have been cycling or jogging in the area at the time.

Officers say they are reassuring members of the public that such incidents are extremely rare in this area and that a full investigation has been launched.

Anyone with any information that could help can call police on 101.
