Police have launched an appeal to find the victim of a late-night assault in Weston-super-Mare this week.

At approximately 3am yesterday morning (Friday), an ambulance crew was tending to an unconscious woman in Oxford Street, near the dental centre.

A man, who stopped to thank paramedics at the scene, was victim of a ‘vicious attack’ by another man. The attacker knocked him to the floor and is believed to have kicked him and stamped on his head – before attacking a paramedic who stepped in to help.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault, but Avon and Somerset Constabulary is looking to speak to the victim of the attack.

A police statement said: “He left the scene after the attack and we are concerned for his welfare. We also believe he can help us with our investigation.”

DIO 6994 Wilson from Bridgwater Custody Centre added “We believe this was an unprovoked and quite vicious attack and we would really like to speak to the man who was assaulted.”

If you have any information on this assault contact DIO 6994 Wilson via the 101 number and quote reference number 5217070975.
