HORSE owners are being urged to security tag their riding equipment in a bid to tackle equine-related crime.

Police are inviting riders to a tack marking session at Murphy’s Saddlery, off the A370 in Hewish, from 10am-3pm on May 21.

The event is being held in response to a rise in thefts of horse equipment in the area.

People coming to the session will also be able to join a police Horse Watch Scheme.

For information, contact PCSO Andy Gatenby at Nailsea Police Station on 0845 4567000.
