NINE police cars and a helicopter pursued two men who made off in a stolen car and tried to escape police for 18 miles.
The men were in Cheddar in the early hours of the morning when police tried to approach their car to talk to them.
They then reverse-rammed the police car and tried to escape.
Police Constables Stu Bullett and Kat Forrest made chase as the men drove through Shipham and on to the A38.
When they neared Bristol, a helicopter was called in alongside traffic officers.
The chase, at 12.30am on September 20, led to the two men being arrested.
The driver has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, dangerous driving, criminal damage and failing to stop.
He will appear in court later this month.
