PUBLIC opinion is being invited on how Avon and Somerset Constabulary can manage a planned 20 per cent budget reduction.

The area’s police is facing a £40million cut in its allocation of Government cash, and is urging people to have their say on which services should be protected.

Dr Peter Heffer, chairman of the area’s police authority, said: “We are committed to doing everything possible to protect the public from harm and to keep our communities safe but we must not underestimate the difficulties ahead. I cannot encourage people enough to take a couple of minutes of their time to carry out this very important survey.”

n You can take part in the survey at www.consultation.avonandsomerset.police.uk or request a hard-copy on 01275 816377.
