A 24-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed in a Weston street on Saturday, prompting a police investigation.

The victim was attacked by two men in Lonsdale Avenue on the Bournville estate at around 8pm.

He sustained stab injuries which were not life-threatening, but required hospital treatment.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary said the offenders were described as two black men.

PCSO Kylie Stevens said at a meeting of the Bournville Area Residents’ Association: “It was an isolated incident and nothing to do with anybody who lives on the estate.

“The male who got injured is fine. He has got to have plastic surgery on his face, but it is just superficial wounds and it is still being investigated.

“It is nothing to be worried about.”

Police horses patrolled the estate on Monday night to provide a police presence and offer reassurance to residents.

As the Mercury went to press, police had made no arrests and enquiries were still ongoing.

If you have any information to assist the enquiry, call 101 and quote log number 945 of May 30.
