POLICE in Burnham have warned people to be alert when using out door cash machines.
It follows the discovery that one machine, outside the Tesco supermarket in Ben Travers Way, has been tampered with.
Avon and Somerset Police believe a criminal gang may be targeting ATMS to obtain cards and PIN numbers after some people using the machine between October 20 and 21 had their cards retained.
They are advising people to be careful, to examine machines before inserting their card and to contact their bank and the police on 0845 456 7000 if they notice anything suspicious.
