A MAN was rescued from an icy lake in Highbridge after trying to rescue his dog from the water.

Two fire engines and an ambulance were called to Apex Park on December 22 and used a ladder to help the man and his dog out. Both were unharmed.

Police in Burnham have also issued a warning against walking on the ice-covered lake in the park after several youngsters were spotted walking across the surface.

Inspector Roger Tolley said: “Clearly the young people walking on the ice don’t see the danger, but doing so is very dangerous.”
