POLICE have lifted a cordon outside a Weston house, as they investigate the suspicious death of a 26-year-old man

Paul Birch died in Frenchay Hospital on Saturday, after suffering serious head injuries in an incident outside the property on Alfred Street on Tuesday, and police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

The 37-year-old man has not been charged, and is currently still being interviewed in custody by officers.

The house, which it is believed is split into separate bedsit flats, was cordoned off as forensic experts carried out examinations on the doorway, and inside the property itself.

Officers have also been conducting house-to-house enquiries into the incident, which happened at around 7.30pm.

If anyone witnessed the disturbance or has any other information which could help the investigation, call police on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
