CEREMONIES to mark the bravery of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty took place in North Somerset at the weekend.
The memorial day mirrors a national event alternating between London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Dublin each year.
To mark the occasion a private ceremony was held at the headquarters of Avon and Somerset Police in Portishead for staff and relatives of officers who have died while working. A commemorative plaque was also unveiled.
A police and fire service parade took place from Union Street in Weston through the town centre, past the police station. It was followed by a formal salute before the group made its way to Clarence Park Baptist Church for a special service.
