AN AVON and Somerset police sergeant has resigned amid claims of misconduct.

AN AVON and Somerset police sergeant has resigned amid claims of misconduct.

Sgt Pete Abrams, has stepped down from his role as community sergeant in Clevedon after 15 years with the force.

Assistant chief constable Jackie Roberts, of Avon and Somerset Constabulary, said: "We can confirm that a 45-year-old police officer has resigned following allegations of misconduct.

"The constabulary has completed a thorough investigation into the allegations and found no evidence of any criminal acts having been committed.

"However, due to the nature of the allegations, the officer tendered his resignation, which the constabulary has accepted.

"It was felt that, taking into consideration all the circumstances, this was the most appropriate resolution, and in the best interests of all parties concerned.
