Police urge motorists to check lights

PUBLISHED: 17:00 01 January 2011

POLICE are urging motorists to keep safe this winter and check their lights following reports that accidents in the dark have grown by 80 per cent.

Cheddar officers are among those promoting the campaign to ensure drivers check their lights are in full working condition.

PC Kat Forrest, of Cheddar Police, said: “Carrying out a few small tests can ensure that you don’t end up receiving a £30 fixed penalty notice from a police officer who has spotted that your lights are not working properly – far more than the price of a new light bulb.”
