POLL OF THE WEEK: Does Weston need a park-and-ride?

Plans to create a park-and-ride service in Weston-super-Mare have been scrapped due to cost concerns.
North Somerset Council this week confirmed there are ‘no plans’ for a park-and-ride, despite announcing a new central hub for public transport will be created at Alexandra Parade in the town centre.
Many Westonians have declared their desire for a shuttle service based at Junction 21 to help alleviate traffic issues created by events like Weston Air Day and the HydroGarden Beach Race, which saw jams tail from the M5 to the town centre.
But the council’s executive member for transport, Elfan Ap Rees, has ruled out the notion of a park-and-ride for the town due to cost concerns.
He told the Mercury: “There are no plans at this stage for a park-and-ride provision, which at the present time is not seen as cost effective or sustainable.”
But what do you think? Does Weston need a park-and-ride, or would there not be enough demand to make the service viable? Have your say in the poll below.
