Fire crews from Devon and Somerset Fire Rescue were on hand to rescue a pony stuck in a rhyne this morning (Friday).

The animal had become stuck in a water-filled rhyne in Lympsham and crews from Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater attended the scene.

They were assisted by the Urban Search and Rescue Team.

As a team, they located the pony, in Eastertown and cleared the reeds to gain access.

They then used lines, strops and a local telehandler to release the pony and it was left in the care of the owner and a vet.
