FIREFIGHTERS were called to Highbridge after two dogs jumped into a river.

The English bull terriers leapt into the fast flowing River Brue just off Huntspill Road at around 6.20pm today (Sat).

One dog managed to climb out of the river but two fire crews rescued the other dog by pulling it onto the bank.

Both dogs were reunited with their happy owner and didn’t need any medical attention.
