ORGANISERS of Portishead Carnival have announced the date for the town s carnival for this year.

ORGANISERS of Portishead Carnival have announced the date for the town's carnival for this year.

The event, which promises to be another spectacular day for the town, will take place on June 14.

One of the organisers, Wendy Watkins, said: "Since Portishead Carnival was revived in 2003 we have had around 30 floats entering the procession each year.

"We don't expect this year to be any different, however even more would be great.

"We are going to encourage local traders to dress their shop windows with a carnival theme and there will be a cup, kindly donated by the North Somerset Times for the winner."

The carnival will begin with a procession of floats, walkers and marching bands from the Lake Grounds area to the flower show field opposite Gordano School in St Mary's Road.

Field events will include live music, stalls, side shows, rides and refreshments providing something for all the family.

Carnival programmes will be on sale from around Easter time up until carnival day. Entry forms for floats can be obtained from Wendy on 07816 050181 or for stalls on 01275 844868.
