A brunch was held at a Portishead bar on Saturday before people headed to Bristol Pride festival.
More than 20 people, including LGBTQ friends and allies, visited Venga Cocktail And Tapas Bar, in High Street, for food and drinks.
The Pride event is an annual celebration of lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transsexual and queer people's (LGBTQ) legal rights and acceptance in society.
Councillor Huw James, who represents Portishead South, said he more events supporting LGBTQ rights can be held throughout the year.
He said: "The Pride flags were hung everywhere, and leaflets and flyers for services for the LGBTQ community were on display throughout the brunch.
"It was a good to show that there are LGBTQ people are here in North Somerset.
"The support people in the community showed was definitely felt.
"It was also a good way to get people in the LGBTQ community networking."
