Pothole-ridden road to be resurfaced

A NEAR six-figure sum is to be spent on resurfacing a pothole-ridden road in Weston town centre.
North Somerset Council is to spend £90,000 on relaying Alfred Street, as well as raising a bus shelter platform and replacing some sections of footpath.
The road will be closed from January 24 when work will start for three weeks.
Council executive member for highways Elfan Ap Rees said: “We will try to make sure all premises can be reached during the work, but the nature of the improvements means it can be potentially hazardous so we may have to restrict access at times.
“Although this may mean some inconvenience the result of the work will be a much improved surface.”
The work will impact some bus services which will take diversionary routes until the resurfacing is complete.
