A new flight route from Bristol Airport will take people to snowy Switzerland.

Powdair will be flying from Sion, in the heart of Switzerland’s Valais region, to Bristol Airport by the end of the year.

The new route will offer skiers, snowboarders and mountain lovers the chance to reach some of the world’s most famous winter resorts quickly and efficiently all-year round.

The route will launch on December 14 in time for the ski season and will see fliers land in the quieter Sion airport.

The airliner will offer free ski and snowboard carriage and a 23kg inclusive allowance for hold luggage.

It also offers discounted rates for children and under twos fly free.

The areas around Sion can boast some of the best ski resorts in Europe, with its highest slope at 3,899m and some of the best powder in the region.
